HB 79 was enacted by the Kentucky legislature during the 2021 Regular Session and became effective on June 29, 2021. The bill overhauled the Board’s authorizing statute and is codified at KRS 309.350 through 309.364. The Board’s corresponding regulations will soon be amended. Notice of pending regulations and further information regarding those amendments will be available on the Board’s website. Until those regulations are amended, the Board reminds licensees that:
1. For license renewals, the Continuing Education (CE) requirement shall be twelve (12) credits for each two-year renewal period. Three (3) of these credits shall be in ethics. KRS 309.361(1).
2. Licensees due for renewal in calendar year 2021, and those licensees presently under an extension to renew due to the Covid-19 State of Emergency in Kentucky as declared by the Governor, shall be held to the twelve (12) CE credit requirement including three (3) credits in ethics, for each two-year renewal period.
3. In the event the State of Emergency in Kentucky continues into a later renewal period, for extensions of time to file for renewal, licensees shall be held to twelve (12) CE credits for each renewal period during the extension.
