KENTUCKY BOARD OF LICENSURE FOR MASSAGE THERAPY

The Kentucky Board of Massage Therapy administers and enforces its statutory authority and monitors the needs of the consuming public. The board examines and licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession as a massage therapist. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. Kentucky law requires the Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy to conduct a criminal background check on applicants by means of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check. The board is actively engaged in the application process with the FBI and the Kentucky State Police for the required Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) number that permits this type of background check. The board can no longer accept background checks directly from applicants. Please be aware that applications cannot be finalized until this ORI number is received. Applicants should continue to submit applications as the board will prepare those for an expedited final review and will provide further instruction once the ORI number is in place.
